| Branch | Name | Birth | Marriage | Last Data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 11a0 | Thomas | 1742-1752 in Chester Co. | 1774 to Elizabeth Stewart in Emmanuel Church, New Castle Co., DE | Thomas last appears in Revolutionary War records on May, 1780 where he is probably the Thomas Pusey in Captain John Clark's company. A Thomas Pusey is fighting in the Kentucky courts in 1827 in Hancock County, just southwest of Meade County where the Joel Puseys settled. |
| 11d0 | James | 1742-1752 in Chester Co. | Unknown | James, brother to Thomas above, was named in his grandfather's will, written in 1756 but is not named in his own mother's will written in 1769 so probably he was deceased. |
| 02c0 | William | 1754 in Chester Co. | possibly to Lydia Baker | d. 1842 but did they have any children? |
| 02e0 | Enoch | 1761 in Chester Co. | 1789 in Chester Co. to Rachel Passmore | Neither Enoch or Rachel Pusey ever appear in any censuses, not even 1790 which might suggest they were not in Pennsylvania or Maryland but one of the states where the 1790 census was lost - say Virginia or Delaware? |
| 13g0 | Abner | 1763 in Chester Co. | Unknown | Abner might be the extra adult male in his brother Thomas' household in East Marlborough Twp., Chester Co. in the 1790, 1800, and 1810 censuses. If so, then he likely never married. His older brother Jesse named his firstborn 'Abner' in 1788 which (to me) says that Jesse did not expect his brother to ever have a son himself. |
| 01a1 | John | 1762 in Chester Co. | Unknown | Orphaned in 1766 with his brother Isaac, John was raised by his grandfather, John Jackson and named in his 1791 will. The 1790 census lists a John Pusey in Northampton Co., PA and another in Cecil Co., MD. The 1810 census for Cecil County lists John E. Pusey (age over 45) as a solo household |
| 01a2 | Isaac | 1765 in Chester Co. | Unknown | Orphaned in 1766 with his brother John, Isaac was raised by his grandfather, John Jackson but NOT named in his 1791 will. The 1790 census lists an Israel Pewsey in Cecil County but no Isaac. It's likely that Isaac died prior to 1791 |
| 01c2 | Thomas | 1767 in Chester Co. | about 1792 to an Unknown Wife | Thomas' birth is solid. His marriage 'about 1792' was reported in the 1903 genealogical sketch of the Painters written by Orrin Chalfant Painter. There is an 1800 census listing in West Marlborough Twp., Chester Co. for Thomas Pusey and the head is 26-44 - this Thomas would have been 33 in 1800. The only other Thomas of the right age was b. in 1758 and he is listed in East Marlborough Twp. The West Marlborough Thomas 3 sons and 2 daughters; one son was born 1785-1790 and other two 1790-1800. One of those was most likely James Pusey who married but died without issue in the 1870's. The other two could be the Thomas and Caleb Puseys in Indiana in the 1840 census. |
| 11e1 | William | 1771 in Harford Co., MD | Unknown | William's last mention is in late 1773 when he and his parents moved to Frederick (now Carroll) Co., MD. It's possible he's shown in his parent's household in Frederick Co., MD in the 1800 census. He is not listed among the living in the 1827 settlement of his father's intestate estate. |
| 11e3 | Nathan(iel) | 1774 in Frederick Co., MD | Unknown | An otherwise unexplained young man shows up in his father George's household in the 1800 census though this could be his brother William. A Nathan Pusey was the first to open a coal bank (surface mine) in Washington Co., PA circa 1795. If so, then his brother William is likely the young man listed in his parents' 1800 census record. Nathan was listed as living in Illinois in 1827 when his father's intestate estate was resolved and he is probably the Nathaniel Pusey listed in St. Genevieve, Perry Co., MO in 1830 with a wife but no children (they were 55-60 years old at this point). |
| 04b9 | William | ~1779 in Philadelphia Co. | m. about 1809 to Unknown Wife | Son of William and Mary Jones, he was granted a certificate in 1788 to return to New Garden MM where he was disowned in 1809 for marrying out of unity. He possibly is the William/Wm. Pusey in Philadelphia in the 1810 and 1820 censuses with a growing family (2 sons and 2 daughters by 1820) or he could be the William Pusey listed in the 1820 and 1830 censuses in New Castle Town and Appoquinimink Hundred, New Castle Co., DE where his sister Susanna (Pusey) Israel had lived. |
| 01g6 | David | 1785 in Frederick Co., VA | Unknown | His father passed away about 1805 and his mother and younger siblings went to Ohio in August, 1806. David bounced around between Frederick, Culpeper, Fairfax, and Loudoun counties in northern Virginia. He was probably living with his older brother Joshua in his household in Waterford, Loudoun Co., VA in the 1810 census, unmarried. His oldest sister Rachel (m. Daniel Inskeep in Culpeper Co., VA in 1797) thought enough of David to name her first-born son David Pusey Inskeep. |
| 04a6 | Ellis | 1791 in Chester Co. | Unknown | He is not named in his father's will of 1808 (though as a minor perhaps that's understandable). He is named in a cousin's 1851 will and he appears in the 1850 census without a wife in Newlin Twp., Chester Co. with a Caroline Spear (b. about 1821). |
| 04a2 | Unknown | about 1800 in Philadelphia Co., PA | Unknown | An unidentified son appears in the Joshua E. Pusey household in Philadelphia in 1810, aged 10-15 and again in his widowed mother Ann's 1820 household in Delaware Co., PA, aged 16-18. His mother died in 1828 and by the time his surviving siblings are located in the 1840 census, there's no trace of this Pusey living with them. |
